15 Movies Showing Beautiful Sibling Bonds ( Rakhi Special : 2020 )

I guess that from the title of this post you people have already understood ( Again! ) what this is about . But, if you haven't ( Again! ) then let me do the honours of revealing to you that this post is about some movies that showcases the beautiful bonds shared by siblings. Hello beautiful people and welcome to the new post in our blog!
Due to the COVID-19 situation prevailing over the world right now, many, many, MANY things, that one use to do in their day to day lives, have changed, or let's say Everyone's Life Has Changed ( !!! ) . One such change include not being able to meet our loved ones, and another among them is not being able to celebrate certain festivals as usual ( Like Normal Times) . One such festival is Rakhi.
According to Wikipedia , " On this day, sisters of all ages tie a talisman, or amulet, called the rakhi, around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care." But, I believe ( MY PERSONAL OPINION ) is that one tie rakhi to the one who protects them as a symbol of protecting them from harm, could be brother-sister , sister-sister , brother-brother, anyone. So here, I am, back again, suggesting you all, 15 Movies that shows the great bond siblings share that you can definitely add to your movie list on the auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan to watch with your siblings ( Or Alone Anyway ;) ), for let's be real, watching movies while sitting at home is one of the safest option we all have these days ( LOL! ).
So without any further delay ( and also without any particular order ), let's get started.

1. JOSH

Director : Mansoor Khan
Though the genre of this movie is romance action , it stands out because of the amazing chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who play orphan twins Max and Shirley respectively. The two, who are both part of the local street gang- the Eagles ( led by Max ), rivals of another local street gang- the Bichhoos, love each other dearly and can go to any length to protect one another. But what happens when Shirley falls in love with the brother of Max's sworn enemy ? Will the sibling  bond remain strong as ever ? That remains to be seen...

This comedy-drama film starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Ranveer Singh as the modern-day siblings Ayesha Mehra and Kabir Mehra respectively shows the viewers the dynamics siblings share these days. From mocking each other to being one another's support system, from having silly altercations to being each other's secret keepers, the duo will definitely remind most of us the relationship we have with our siblings.

3. PATAAKHA

As the title suggests, the relationship of the two sisters in this movie is just like Pataakha i.e., firecracker. Starring Radhika Madan and Sanya Malhotra as the two feuding sisters Champa 'Badki' Kumari and Genda 'Chhuttki' Kumari, this comedy-drama film shows that no matter how much siblings quarrel for no reason at all, they deeply do love each other. In this movie, which is based on the short story "Do Behnein" by Charan Singh Pathik, we see two sisters who fight each other as well as their life to move to better position, only to realise the importance of their relationship when they are actually separated. Based on the novel "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott, this coming-of-age period drama film is one of the best examples of a film based on the day-to-day relationships shared by siblings that create quite a stir in our souls. The ensembled cast of this movie that has Winona Ryder as Josephine "Jo" March, Trini Alvarado as Margaret "Meg" March, Kirsten Dunst and Samantha Mathis as Amy Curtis March and Claire Danes as Elizabeth "Beth" March, i.e., playing the four March sisters, is bound to engage us with all of smiles, laughters and tears. Based on true events, this biographical drama film features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda as the two siblings Dalbir Kaur and Sarbjit Kaur, whose bond is basically unbreakable. This movie shows the passion, will, power and also pain a sister possesses to free her innocent brother from the prison of Pakistan from the day he was reported their till his death. The scenes here are so realistic that I feel that this movie will surely give us the chills! ( Warning ).

This is a beautiful computer-animated musical fantasy film, having the voice over of Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell playing the two sisters Elsa and Anna , the two princesses of Arendelle ( Spoiler : Elsa becomes Queen of Arendelle ) . Another amazing movie by Vishal Bhardwaj, this comedy horror yet again showcases the beauty of the sister-sister relationship. Starring Mia Furrow as Hannah, Barbara Hershey as one of her sister Lee and Dianne Wiest as her another sister Holly, this comedy-drama movie tells us that All's Well That Ends Well, even if it is about relationships with our own sibling. The highly witty and richly entertaining movie about Hannah and her sisters Lee and Holly and their respective lives, revealing bits of jealousy, love and support they have  for each other is something to watch out with your sisters/ brothers.

9. DHANAK

One of the most endearing tales of two siblings, "Dhanak" tells us the story of a 10 year old Pari played by Hetal Gada and her blind younger brother Chotu played by Krissh Chhabria, who have lost their parents in an accident. Though blind, Chotu is happy and is basically the life of the village, while Pari, his sister is not only his best friend but also his eyes. As Chotu is about to turn 9, Pari must fulfill a promise she made to him. But whether or not she is able to keep it, remains to be seen.

10. IQBAL

Yet another masterpiece by Nagesh Kukunur this coming-of-age sports drama film showcases the struggles of a deaf and mute boy named Iqbal from a remote village, played by Shreyas Talpade, who aims at becoming a cricketer and play for team India someday. One of Iqbal's pioneer support here is his sister Khadija played by Shweta Basu Prasad, who tries to help in anyway she can. Their beautiful bond adds up more gems to this amazing movie. After watching one can surely say that this isn't just a movie, but a emotion.

11. RAGING BULL

Director : Martin Scorsese
This biographical sports drama film starring Robert De Niro
as Jake LaMotta and Joe Pesci as his brother Joey. In this movie, we see Jake, a very insecure, sexually jealous and an extremely aggressive boxer, who on the verge of destroying his career as well as himself , being helped by his well-intentioned brother as well as manager Joey, to control his inner demons. Starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton as the two enstranged brothers Tommy Riordan Conlon and Brendan Conlon respectively, this sports drama film shows these two brothers go head to head against each other in the worldwide MMA tournament in the fight of their lives. The movie has got the sense of true emotions as it masterfully potrays the strained relationship of the brothers with the people they love. Overall, it's a heartwarming as well as heartbreaking movie that one should definitely watch.

13. CHILDREN OF HEAVEN

Director : Majid Majidi
This amazing Iranian family drama film, starring child actors Mir Farrokh Hashemian and Bahare Seddiqi as siblings Ali and Zahra respectively, beautifully showcases the relationship between an impoverished brother and sister who choose to their problems by themselves. It is so perfectly charming that is impossible to remain unmoved while/after watching this movie. All in all it's a beautiful tale of innocence and poverty carried on their shoulders by the two siblings, related to a pair of shoes. ( if you know , you know ).

14. GRAVE OF FIREFLIES

Director : Isao Takahata
Based on the semi-autobiographical short story of the same name by Akiyuki Nosaka, this Japanese animated war tragedy film shows the heart-wrenching bond of the two siblings Seita and Setsuko, who desperately struggle to survive during the World War 2,having nobody but each other by their side. The voice cast including Tsutomu Tatsumi as Seito and Ayano Shiraishi as Setsuko does complete justice to this beautiful, dystopian movie which not only about the disastrous effect war has on the world but also about a very personal memory.

15. PATHER PANCHALI

Director : Satyajit Ray
When we talk about strong sibling bonds, Apu and Durga are bound to cross our minds. Based on the classic Bengali novel written by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, this fabulous drama film captures the heartwarming bond shared by the two siblings living in the cusps of poverty. Starring Subir Bannerjee as the young Apu Roy and Uma Dasgupta as the teen Durga Roy, this movie rightfully is a milestone in Indian cinema for its realism depicting nitty-gritty aspects between the sibling's bond in the rural Bengal during the 1910s. This movie really is one of a kind even till date.

So these were a few suggestions from my side that you all should really try to watch with your siblings but if you don't want to then I hope you don't have FOMO later on ( XD ). But anyway, just don't watch those movies which you might regret watching. Here's a link of those movies list below ( I'm Saving You:| ) :

Anyway, hope you liked this post. Comment if you did or didn't or if you have any suggestions or reviews. By the way, just to be clear you can watch these movies anytime, anyday with anyone or alone, it's not as if you have to watch on Raksha Bandhan only that too with your sibling ( XD ).

So, that's all for today. Have a happy Raksha Bandhan ! Stay Safe everyone! hasta la vista ! :)
